Ministering to a Homeless Woman on a Cold Night

I saw this woman for the first time the other night when temperatures were absolutely freezing and the wind was blowing hard. She was alone, barely clothed and trying to sleep around 8pm at night on the cold and dirty concrete ground of the slum of Nishinari. When I saw her, I went over to her, asked her if she was ok, and gave her my jacket to use as a blanket. I told her it was a gift from Jesus, and she looked up at me with tears. She said that she was very cold and grateful. She really couldn’t say much because she was crying, but I told her that Jesus loves her and that He cares for her. The next morning, my friend went to check on her and gave her a care package with food and some personal care items in it. We told her about God’s goodness and I believe she felt blessed. This is what this ministry is all about: sharing the goodness of God’s love and proclaiming the name of Jesus to the lost and broken. I will continue to minister to this woman as I see her around the slum and am praying she will give her life to Christ and be drawn in by His goodness and love. All the glory goes to God.

– Matthew 25: 40 NKJV –
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”
