Where can we find true inner peace?

Greetings everyone! My mind has been wandering towards the subject of peace in relation to God lately. Peace is something, that I feel, is extremely necessary for our bodies, minds, and souls to function optimally. I’m sure most everyone would agree that peace is deemed necessary for survival! Although it is never guaranteed that situations around us will be peaceful, I want to encourage everyone today to truly know and claim that in God’s presence there is peace! We can achieve inner peace through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through his Holy Spirit- Peace that is not dependent on any external circumstances but solely on the presence of God. True, essential, peace. Truly I tell you, the only way true peace can be achieved is with God. I’ll let the scriptures speak for themselves:

John 14:27 (NIV)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Jesus has ensured us that he has left his peace with us! After Jesus died on the cross and his earthly body was no more, he did not desert us and leave us on our own in a helpless state. On the contrary, he left his Holy Spirit with us to guide us and comfort us (John 14:26). Let me reiterate the scripture; He has given us his peace! Peace from God transcends all earthly forms of artificial peace. Peace from God is other worldly; it is a feeling so special and intense you feel captivated by it. From my personal experience in prayer and in worship I can boldly proclaim this; you are compelled to feel an overwhelming sense of peace and well being in God’s presence. God is so holy and powerful that in His presence we can finally have true fullness of joy, true spiritual rest and ultimately, true peace (Psalm 16:11 & 62:5).

This is amazing news for the heavy-hearted, the broken, the anxious, the stressed or for anyone who has ever been overwhelmed in a situation.

Unfortunately, because of the fall, we as humans seek other avenues to try to channel and cultivate our own sense of peace. The television, the internet, books and even doctor’s always seem to have an array of suggestions and products to sell you; all are different and enticing methods on trying to achieve some level of peace in one’s life. I’m here to tell you today, that we can try to medicate ourselves, do things such as yoga and herbal supplements, but the ONLY way to achieve true peace is to be trusting and relying on God. Scripture proves it time and time again;

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

2 Thessalonians 2:16-17  (KJV) – “Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.”

Over and over again, the Lord promises to give us continually peace as we pursue Him and seek Him. Even when it gets hard, even when everything seems to be crashing down around us, and even when we have lost all hope; God’s peace is readily available for us. We just have to have the faith to accept it.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 (KJV)

“Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.”

Remember that God’s peace is a gift and blessing to all of those who seek Him. I pray you all access His peace today. Blessings.
