I have a passion to see the people of Japan be set free through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ; especially the Japanese men and women affected by homelessness and are bound by drug addictions.
In this ministry, I preach and teach the Word of God in Japan by unashamedly sharing the gospel to these two disadvantaged populations. I am primarily ministering to a homeless population of day laborers in Nishinari-ku, the biggest slum in Osaka to this day. Nishinari is publicly known as one of the most dangerous places in all of Japan and their need for God is great. These are Osaka’s homeless and hungry; a people who are also struggling with various addictions including drugs, alcohol and gambling. Due to their situation, they are seen as “less than” and are shunned, ignored and looked down upon by even the people of their own society. I have a burden to see the people of Nishinari, this forgotten population of Japanese, to be saved, set free and delivered through encountering the one true God, Jesus Christ.
My mission is for them to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, first by hearing the word of God.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” Matthew 10: 14-15
What I discovered when I first met these men and women was that they did not know God and most of them had never even heard of the name of Jesus before. God has highlighted this special population of men and women to me and given me a heart to see each and every one receive Jesus Christ and be radically set free.
I am currently serving in Japan and my life’s mission is to specifically minister to this hurting population. I believe that God wants to heal the land of Nishinari and that He is calling Nishinari people back to Himself; to know Him and to be loved by Him.
Short & Long Term Action: Being led by Holy Spirit, I am willing to be used at all times for God’s purposes here. I’m praying (and please pray with me) for God to open many doors for deeper conversations, opportunities of prayer and the overall allowance of God’s love to touch their hearts. Currently, I go to these men and women with the hopes of forming long term relationships with them and ministering to them daily. Eventually and Lord willing, God has placed a desire in my heart to plant a permanent house of prayer and worship in this area for the people of Nishinari – a church! Let’s be praying for God to provide supernaturally for these men and women! I don’t have a “return date” of when I expect to return to America. As I feel from the Lord that this is my life’s mission, I believe that this is where the Lord will keep me for many, many years to come. I am leaning into God’s mission and hope that God will work in your hearts too to see the needs of these people and to support them through supporting this mission too!
