True Courage

-Psalms 31:24 KJV-
“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, All ye that hope in the LORD.”

The Greek word for courage in this scripture is ve·ya·’a·metz (וְיַאֲמֵ֣ץ), which translates to being, sturdy, strong, bold, alert, and firm in attitude. What this scripture is conveying to us is: through our hope in Jesus, God gives our hearts more than enough of the required strength it takes in order for us to be resolute in our determination to follow God; and this my friends, is what the Bible calls true courage. It means not shaking, wavering, turning to and fro and definitely not being weak-spirited. Here is what the scripture is revealing to us today: that the Holy Spirit gives us the power to be truly courageous and in fact, this is what the Lord is calling us to! We should therefore remain in the Spirit, as to not gratify the pleasures of our flesh.

-Galatians 5:16-26 KJV-
“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh, for the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.”

Now the English definition of courage is to be, “not deterred by danger or pain; brave.” As you can see, these two different implications are quite polar in thought. This scripture offers quite plainly the spiritually aligned perspective with what true courage is. The English definition holds relevance in our common language today, although it is not spiritually charged- this is the difference.
True courage, is following God and following the Holy Spirit’s voice no matter what may come; even when it’s hard, even when we don’t have all the answers, even when it seems to be that we are surrounded by pure darkness- we always have the choice to partner with Christ to be the light He has called us to be.

-John 12:36 KJV-
“While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. “

Come, let’s follow the Lord and walk in His perfect ways together; being bold in thought, word and deed; to show the world Christ’s marvelous light! We can only do this through the strength and true courage that the Holy Spirit provides to all those who have believed on the name of Jesus Christ and continue to hope in His name.

God bless you!!!

    • Amen! Let’s strive to co-labor for our rewards we shall see in Heaven, which are eternal, instead of seeking attention from man, which is so fleeting! Then, even when we receive our Heavenly gifts, let’s cast them at the feet of Jesus and tell Him He always was and always is MORE than enough for us!!!! Our everything! 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:

11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
      for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.” Revelation 4:10-11
