Be the Light

“If everything around seems dark, look again, you may be the light.” – Rumi

I’d like to shed some light into the spiritual atmosphere of Japan in today’s post. Japan is a needy country spiritually; I would even consider it a very dark place for many reasons. Yes they pray, yes they worship, but they worship what they do not know. Mainly, they worship stone figures of “deities” that they believe can help them achieve a blessed life. It is truly, truly saddening and a surreal experience to visibly see people worshipping these blocks of stone every single day. These stones which cannot help them, cannot love them, and cannot give them hope.

John 4:22 NKJV-
“You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.”

Jesus speaks of a different narrative. He tells us the truth; that He alone is the only true way to salvation, that He is the only God there is and that He alone inclines His ear to our prayers.

-John 8:12-
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Then Jesus gives us all an assignment– to be the light of the world.

-Acts 13:47-
“For this is what the Lord has commanded us:
I have made you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Let’s not forget to be the light right where Jesus has planted us! Whether in Japan or wherever you are situated, we are called to be the light of Christ wherever we go unto the salvation of others! Let Jesus always be our inspiration for He alone is our salvation- our everything. Don’t forget that light casts out darkness! The Light of Christ is stronger than any darkness or spiritual force that we may encounter! So let’s continue to shine brightly for Christ until the day that Jesus comes back for us that believe in His appearing!

-Acts 26: 22-23-
“But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.

  1. It is quite difficult for you, a foreigner, to live in Japan. Even as a foreigner, it is very difficult to live alone. The sacrifices and efforts you make will be a great strength and hope to those who need them. I highly praise you for your sacrifices and efforts.

    • Thank you so much for your comment, all the Glory belongs to God alone! God’s strength, power and great love for the lost are being manifested here through the sharing of the gospel and a life-lived for Christ. I’m so grateful to God! Praise Him! Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

  2. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
