One of the biggest privileges of being a missionary to this area is being able to meet with the homeless and share the the Word of God with them. For being such a spiritual people, it truly amazes me at how shocked the Japanese are to hear about the true and living God and how foreign even the name of Jesus Christ truly is to them.
During our weekly church service, we held an outdoor worship session in the main park where all the homeless congregate to start the day. We sang worship songs for an hour and a half, and though all we had were simply guitars and our voices- oh how it ministered! We prayed aloud in between each song we sang and there were about 40 Japanese men and women in attendance. Two Japanese even came up to us to ask us more about who were we were singing about and what our songs meant. For this blog post I will focus on the woman featured below: we will call her X-San! X-san is a woman in her 60’s who seems to have been living on the streets for a very long time. She approached us and although she was very drunk, she seemed to be open to what we were doing and even listened to the things of God we were saying/singing! She accepted my homemade onigiri and Christian tract that I gave to her and was also open to receiving prayer too! It was an extreme blessing and God certainly touched her life that day.
I praise God I was able to pass out 10 Christian tracts and onigiri this day to the homeless!
My desire is that far more Japanese people would be interested in not only Christian music and worship, but even more that they would have a desire to hear the Word of God and study the Bible consistently. I realize that that is a big next step for them, but with God, all things are possible!
-2 Samuel 10:12-
“Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.”
Please fervently pray with me for the Japanese and let us also keep X-San in our prayers! That her interest in Jesus would continue to grow more and more and that she would have the desire and courage to come into our Church/Bible study next time!
Thank you for reading and God Bless!
