Emotions are movable, but God’s truth is immovable.

I have a teaching today about being led by the Word of God and not by our emotions. Overall, human emotions can and will lead you astray if you put preeminence on them and trust in them over what God says. That’s because our emotions are flimsy, unstable, and can change quicker than in a blink of the eye! On one hand, emotions are very real and extremely personal to an individual. They can influence our behavior and tell us valuable information about ourselves if we pay attention to them. Emotions are valid, can enrich our lives in various ways and truly are the essence of what it means to be human. However, should we base our decisions simply on our ever-changing emotional state? God forbid.

Since emotions are always shifting and have an element of feebleness to them, I’m here today to tell you that we should not be led by them if we intend to make Godly decisions for our lives. If we based our lives on our emotional states alone, what would happen on the days when we don’t “feel” like doing something? What happens when we’re not, “in the mood” to deal with a particular person or situation? Is that truly a Godly response?

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8: 31-32 NKJV

I’m here to propose a new way today; the true way. That is, basing our life and our decisions on God’s truth, rather than on our emotions. Where can we find God’s truth? How can we know the truth of God? That’s easy! By reading the Bible and getting into the Word! The Bible is the literal Word of God and can never lead you astray. In fact, the Bible speaks about the insurmountable blessings that manifest in your life when you do follow God’s Word! It is the most credible source in the entire universe and should not be overlooked. The Word of God should be our standard, not just, “an option.”

Dear friends, we have to get to the point where we ignore how we feel in the moment and follow God’s truth anyways. Whether we feel like it or not, trusting God’s truth and taking Him at His word needs to supersede your current emotional state! It can get uncomfortable following God sometimes, it’s not always easy to die to ourselves and pick up our crosses, but God’s way is truly best! Do you believe it today? I want to encourage each and every one of you to boldly follow the Word of God and let it take over every area of your life! Is there an area of your life that you haven’t yet allowed the Word of God to permeate? Today is the day friends, let God’s truth rule over you so that sin does not! Amen!
