Hello people of the internet! Let’s dive into today’s verse of topic:
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
In this verse, Paul is urging us as believers to boast in our weaknesses. Instead of complaining about our weakness, Paul acknowledges that human weakness exists, yet he urges us not to wallow in it. He doesn’t want us to view our weakness as the “end-all” of our being or us to think of ourselves as helpless. Paul is instead urging us to view things from a different perspective- a heavenly perspective. Although we have to deal with our inherent sin nature on a daily basis as a living, breathing human, this scripture shows us that there is a mighty hope that overcomes that darkness that lives within our hearts (if we are a believer of Jesus Christ and are saved by His grace).
In this verse, Paul recognizes that first knowing our position of weakness and need to an all-powerful, all-knowing and all-loving Creator, is the best thing for us! He suggests that we glory in our infirmities and boast in them!
What Paul is trying to communicate to you is that your weakness doesn’t make you weak, it makes you strong. Without our weaknesses, the power of God would not have been able to rest upon us. If we were already capable in our own strength to do good works unto righteousness, then we would never have needed to experience a right relationship with God. However, that is not the case!
Let us be thankful that we don’t have it all figured out- so we can rest in the one who does! Let us be grateful to God that He made us in need of Him all so that we could get to experience the best relationship a human can have- a relationship with our loving Heavenly Father and Creator.
God bless you and keep you always,
Allison
