How to be delivered from FEAR

Greetings to all of you beautiful souls!

Whoever happens to stumble upon this blog post- this is not an accident! I’m so glad that you made it here! Today, we will discover some practical steps to deal with the hidden and outward fear in your life. As humans, we all struggle with different types of fear. The fear of failure, the fear of inadequacy, the fear of not being able to make it. Maybe you’re afraid of specific things or maybe you fear things before they happen. Maybe your fears are getting in the way of your everyday life. Or maybe… they linger in the back of your mind and only surface under specific triggers, pressures or stress.

Well my friends, I have good news! Jesus Christ has the power to break the chains of fear! Sometimes we have become so familiar with our fear that we learn to accept it, befriend it and even protect it. However, that isn’t the best plan for your life! Let’s look at what the scriptures say in Isaiah 43:1 (NKJV):

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.

Wow! What a powerful word. First, this scripture tells us that God is the one who created you and formed you. Then He gives us a commandment: “Fear not.”

Notice that God didn’t say, “If you want to, fear not..” or “Maybe you should fear not..” No, this is a statement, a command. Now, as children of God, understanding the power of God, we are called to FEAR NOT!

This has become our DNA as a saved person through Jesus Christ. Why then do we still deal with fear? It’s because fear is the absence of faith. Look at Nehemiah 6: 10-13 (NIV).

“One day I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was shut in at his home. He said, “Let us meet in the house of God, inside the temple, and let us close the temple doors, because men are coming to kill you—by night they are coming to kill you. But I said, “Should a man like me run away? Or should someone like me go into the temple to save his life? I will not go!” I realized that God had not sent him, but that he had prophesied against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. He had been hired to intimidate me so that I would commit a sin by doing this, and then they would give me a bad name to discredit me.”

In this passage the prophet Nehemiah refers to fear as a sin. Interesting. Nehemiah was not the only man of God with this mentality. The apostle Paul also refers to fear as sin.

“For whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” – Romans 14:23 (KJV)

Our soul needs us to say goodbye to fear and hello to faith once and for all. When you say goodbye to something you are allowing space in your life to say “yes” to something else. Just as a new spirit replaces an old spirit, new thoughts replace old thoughts. Faith has to replace the fear in your life to get the victory over fear.

So now that we understand the position of fear in our lives, how do we break the chain?

The first step is to understand that we have AUTHORITY in CHRIST:

Jesus tells us in Luke 10:19 (KJV), “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Claim the authority over sin (fear) in your life! No longer accept fear or be comfortable in your cycle of fear. Reject it and claim the power that God has given you over sin!

The second step is to SUBMIT TO GOD, which comes from James 4:7 (KJV),

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

It can be extremely difficult, nay I dare say, impossible to resist the devil without submitting yourself completely to God. The definition of the word “submit” is to, “accept or yield to a superior force or to the authority or will of another person.” The other person needs to be God and God alone.

The third and final step is to personally find a memory verse that you can memorize and recite to yourself during times when you start to feel your fears creep back in. This verse should be one that you find through seeking and studying the Word on your own. Pray that God will reveal the perfect memory verse that works for you and your specific fear!

There are two things that we need to acknowledge in order to get the victory over fear.

1.) Acknowledge the temptation to rely on one’s own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Relying on ourselves is a trap and temptation that can ensnare us.

2.) Acknowledge God in all ways. Proverbs 3:6 (KJV) says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” All we have to do is acknowledge God in every way in our lives. In the morning, in the evening, when we are in line at the store, when we are laying down, when we make decisions about our lives. Acknowledge Him and He will guide you.

We know that this truth worked for King David in the Bible. Read this verse he wrote from Psalm 34:4 (KJV):

“I sought the Lord and He answered me, and delivered me from all of my fears.”

How do we continually keep this mindset in our hearts?  Psalm 34:1 (KJV);

“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Praising God is your victory song over fear! Never let fear steal your joy or praise to God!

I hope these steps lay out a practical way for anyone who deals with fear to replace the fear in their life with great faith! In this, there is a great freedom and deliverance from your situation!

Like the old school worship song says, “FEAR NOT, FOR I AM WITH YOU SAYS THE LORD!

Take care, thank you for reading and God Bless!
