What truly defines who you are?

Good afternoon everyone! Just wanted to take the opportunity to write a quick blog today because I’m very excited to share these two verses with you that really resonate with me. You know, even though we live in a world obsessed with image, is that the right mentality to have? Is that what pleases God? Is our outward image what truly defines us? This is what the bible says;

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (KJV)

“Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knowe me, that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord.”

These verses are saying to take the focus off of yourself and give the glory to God (isn’t that why we’re here?!). People should identify you not because of what you have or what you’ve done but rather, who you are. We as Christians need to be defined as children of the living God; for it is a delight unto the Lord and He alone is deserving of all recognition.

Friends, it is okay to be set apart from the world and to go against the popular current times that are trying so hard to diminish your light. God has ordained us to be set apart from the beginning. I don’t know about you but I am so grateful to be saved and it is my joy to proclaim to the world what God has done, not just for me, but for everyone.

1 John 5:9 (NIV)

“We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his son.”

People can only see what you look like outwardly, but God can see what’s in your heart. Who’s opinion do you think matters most? Let who you are in Christ be the only definition of who you are. Selah.
